What is an External BLDC Air Cooler Motor?


An External BLDC Air Cooler Motor combines two key technologies: External Rotor design and Brushless DC (BLDC) technology.

  • External Rotor: The outer shell of the motor rotates. Permanent magnets are mounted on the inside of this shell.

  • BLDC (Brushless DC): The motor uses electronic control instead of carbon brushes, offering high efficiency, low noise, and long life.

  • Application: This motor is specifically designed to drive fan blades in evaporative air coolers, air conditioners, refrigerators, and other cooling equipment.


Key Advantages of External Rotor Design

The external rotor structure provides several benefits for cooling applications:

  1. Compact and Efficient
    Fan blades can be mounted directly onto the rotating outer shell, eliminating complex transmission components. The larger rotor diameter provides higher torque, allowing efficient operation at lower speeds.

  2. Excellent Heat Dissipation
    The stator and control board — the main heat-generating components — are located in the center and are directly exposed to the airflow generated by the fan, achieving "self-cooling" and preventing overheating.

  3. Very Quiet Operation
    The brushless design eliminates friction noise from carbon brushes. The external rotor structure runs smoothly with minimal vibration, making it ideal for noise-sensitive applications like home air conditioners and air purifiers.

  4. Smart Speed Control
    As a BLDC motor, it supports stepless speed regulation. The motor can automatically adjust its speed smoothly based on actual cooling demand, rather than simply turning on or off, resulting in significant energy savings.
